LU Board

The LU Board is an artisan-crafted talking board created using centuries-old fine art materials and techniques. Each board is individually signed, dated, and serial numbered.

Each LU Board is individually handcrafted using traditional materials and techniques used by artists for centuries. Designed as both a functional communication tool and a lasting work of art, every board is created entirely by hand.

Traditional Craftsmanship

Construction begins with a Baltic birch panel that receives more than ten coats of traditional gesso—a centuries-old mixture of hide glue, marble powder, and chalk that creates the hard, exceptionally smooth painting surface favored by classical artists.

The artwork is meticulously hand-painted using acrylic gouache that I prepare from finely ground mineral and earth pigments. By grinding and mixing each pigment myself, I maintain control over the quality, consistency, and character of every color used on the board.

Once complete, the surface is burnished and sealed beneath multiple coats of a professional archival finish. This protects the artwork from wear and deterioration while creating a smooth, durable surface that allows the planchette to glide effortlessly.

Every stage—from preparing the panel and mixing the paints to the final finish—is completed by hand. Each board requires more than 30 hours of craftsmanship spread across several days.

Original Design

The LU Board is my own original design, developed through years of practical use and refinement. Every detail—from the typography and spacing to the wording and balance of the composition—has been considered to create a board that is visually elegant, functional, and comfortable to use.

Inspired by early talking boards, the LU Board combines historical techniques with a clean, original design. Rather than recreate an antique, my goal was to build a board using traditional materials and methods that could be appreciated as a finely crafted object in its own right.

Individually Crafted

No two boards are exactly alike. Subtle variations in the wood grain, hand-painted surface, color, and finish are a natural part of traditional craftsmanship, making every LU Board a one-of-a-kind original.

Each board is signed, dated, and assigned a unique serial number, documenting its place in the ongoing evolution of the LU Board.

Whether displayed as a work of art, appreciated as part of a collection, or incorporated into one's personal occult practices, each LU Board is crafted to age gracefully and be enjoyed for generations.

Handcrafted Planchette

Every LU Board includes a custom-designed planchette that I cast and finish by hand from high-quality epoxy resin. Its shape, weight, and smooth gliding surface were developed specifically to complement the board and provide a comfortable, balanced experience.

Care & Storage

Wipe the board with a soft, dry cloth after use. Keep it indoors and away from moisture, prolonged exposure to high humidity, and rapid changes in temperature or humidity. Store the board flat in a clean, dry environment.

With frequent use, the surface may occasionally be refreshed by polishing it very lightly with 2000-grit sandpaper. Apply only a few drops of mineral oil to a clean paper towel, buff a very thin coat into the surface, and then wipe it thoroughly with a separate clean cloth or paper towel. All remaining oil and surface residue must be completely removed before the board is used or stored.

Please Note

Because every LU Board is made entirely by hand, subtle variations in the wood grain, painted surface, color, dimensions, and finish are natural. These variations are part of the traditional crafting process and make each board a unique original.

With proper care, the LU Board is designed to provide a lifetime of use and enjoyment.
